This event is held every two years (the next one is coming up, Sunday 15th June 2014, 12 noon to 4 pm) and our society was one of many in the local area to add to its attraction. Several members volunteered their time but were also able to participate in the rest of the enjoyable day. Besides photographs, leaflets and literature we took along a couple of telescopes, one from our observatory and a specialised solar telescope kindly donated by John Berman for the event, where people were able to see prominences that even most astronomers have not seen.
Every member is invited, and welcome to support our stand, which should contain similar solar equipment. The location is Portcullis Club (Kenley Aerodrome), Victor Beamish Avenue, Caterham, CR3 5FX. As you come up this road parking marshals will direct to nearby ample parking. It is a free (non-ticket) event.
