This event is held every year at Heathfield House, just a short walk from our meeting place at the Royal Russell School, and our society was one of many stands to either sell or exhibit. Several members volunteered their time but were also able to participate in the rest of the enjoyable day. Besides a slide show, photographs, leaflets and literature we took along a number of telescopes, hydrogen alpha and plain solar, which were used on the sunny Sunday to show several features on the Sun’s disk, that even most amateur astronomers have not seen.
Other CAS members visited and helped to support our stand, conveniently placed beside a French window to the outside where our CAS banner was on display. The location is The Old Orchard, Heathfield, Coombe Lane, Croydon, Surrey CR0 5RH.
As you approach there are signs directing to an ample free parking area, and public transport is very good by tram or bus. It is a free (non-ticket) event.
